PAUL BRITTAIN, Winterset

A funeral service was held this Wednesday, July 28, at 1:30 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home for Paul H. Brittain of Winterset, who died July 25, 1982, at Madison County Memorial Hospital. He was 70 years old.

Born in Madison County on March 16, 1912, he was the son of Lloyd and Mamie Hendricks Brittain.

A lifetime county resident, he entered the salvage business with his father in 1929. In 1932 he went into the automotive parts business and was one of the first jobbers for the National Automotive Parts Association (NAPA). In April of this year his business, Brittain's Standard Parts, was awarded a 50-year plaque by NAPA.

On November 10, 1933, he married Nina DeBord in Winterset, who survives him.

Mr. Brittain was a former member of Rotary International and Kiwanis and a past president of the Lakeview Country Club.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Alvin. Survivors include his wife; a son, Jerry Brittain, of Winterset; a daughter, Myrna Smith, of Fairfield, Iowa; a brother, Gerald, of Corning, Iowa; two sisters, Fern Day of Knoxville and Cleo Kirkland of Winterset; and nine grandchildren.

Rev. Byron Ayers officiated at the funeral service. Burial was in North McDonald Cemetery.
