MRS. CALVIN LAKE DIES SUNDAY NIGHT

Mrs. Calvin Lake, 78 years old, died Sunday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edward Burns, who lives near Orient. She had been in ill health a number of years but had been much improved. She had gone to bed early Sunday evening. Her grandchildren, who were alone in the house, heard a crash and going to her room found their grandmother had fallen out of bed; she was dead when they reached her.

Mrs. Lake was a member of an old Madison county family, the sister of Sam Young, deceased, Walter Young of Des Moines; Mrs. William Baker, of Peru; Mrs. Amelia Ogburn, of Winterset; Frank Young and Mrs. Rose Ward, of Kansas.

Mr. and Mrs. Lake made their home in the county many years, living south of Winterset. After his death about eight years ago she had been living with her sons and daughters. Of the five sons and daughters born to Mr. and Mrs. Lake, only two now live in or near the county, Mrs. Burns and Walter Lake. Mrs. J. P. White and Mrs. Harry Vance of Winterset are nieces of Mrs. Lake.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon (Thursday) at the Zion church near Orient and burial will be in the church cemetery.
