GEORGE CRAWFORD DIES AT 73 YEARS

George W. Crawford of Dexter, a well-known Jackson township farmer, died Friday, July 18, at a Des Moines hospital. He was 73 years of age.

Mr. Crawford was a life-time resident of Madison county. He was born here Oct. 30, 1895, a son of Charles and Sadie Reed Crawford. His active life was spent in farming.

He served in the U.S. armed forces during World War I, and was a member of the American Legion. He was a member of the Pitzer United Presbyterian church, serving as an elder.

Mr. Crawford was married at Winterset on Feb. 10, 1924, to Marie Rogers, who survives him.

He also leaves a son, Charles L. Crawford of Adair; a daughter, Mrs Max Beverlin of Ft. Dodge; five grandchildren; and two brothers, Cash Crawford and Earl E. Crawford, both of Winterset.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Pitzer United Presbyterian church, conducted by the Rev. Charles T. White. Butial was made in the Penn Center cemetery.

Dexter: Memorial services were conducted July 21 by Rev. C. T. White in the Pitzer United Presbyterian Church for George W. Crawford, 73, who was born and lived his whole live in the Pitzer Community.

Mr. Crawford passed away July 18 at Younker Rehabilitation Center in Des Moines. Interment was in Penn Center Cemetery. Casket bearers were Joe Bruns, jr., Richard Frey, Earl Gleason, Marvin Moore, Wayne Welch, Ralph Williams. Honorary bearers were Harlow Finney, Russell Frey, J. Ross Moore, Fred Niblo, George Pitcock, John Sawhill, Paul Shaw and Orville Willcox.

George Crawford was born in Madison county, Oct. 30, 1895. He is survived by his wife, Marie; daughter, Mrs. Max (Dorothy) Beverlin of Fort Dodge; son, Charles of Adair; and two brothers, Earl and Cash, both of Madison county.
