Services for Mary Louise Hanrahan, 76, rural Cumming, who died Oct. 30, 1985, at her home, were held Nov. 2 at the St. Patrick's Irish Settlement Church with the Rev. John Richter officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.
Born in Des Moines on May 5, 1909, she was the daughter of Patrick and Alice King Brownrigg. A housewife, she was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of the Irish Settlement Church and a member of the altar and rosary society at the church. She had been given credit for naming Lake Ahquabi near Indianola in the mid-1930s.
On June 5, 1943, she was married to Andrew A. Hanrahan at the Church of the Assumption at Churchville, Iowa.
Survivors include son, Richard of rural Cumming and Jack of rural Prole; a daughter, Mary Alice Brincks of Des Moines; and 12 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
