HANNAH CLARKE DIES AT 98 YEARS

Madison county lost one of its oldest residents Monday Sept. 23, in the death of Mrs. Hannah Clarke at a Winterset nursing home. She was 98 years of age.

Mrs. Clarke was the former Hannah Picken, daughter of Joseph and Isabelle Craig Picken. She was born in Ireland Dec. 1, 1869. She was married in 1891 to Robert Clarke. She had lived in the St. Charles community since 1914.

Mrs. Clarke was a member of the United Presbyterian church.

She is survived by a daugher, Mrs. Belle Leggett of St. Charles; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and seven brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were held last Wednesday from the St. Charles United Presbyterian church, in charge of the Arthur Eady. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
