Albert S. Clark, Winterset

Albert Smith Clark, 84, died Aug. 3, 2001, of an aorta aneurysm at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday, Aug. 8) at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset with Pastor Bobb Barrick officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.

Albert Clark was born Aug. 31, 1916, in Madison County to Harvey S. and Edna Frances (McDonald) Clark. He married May Jean Howell on Feb. 14, 1940, in Greenfield. A retired farmer, Albert was a lifetime resident of Madison County. He served on the Farmers Co-op Board, was a 4-H leader for five years and was a township clerk and trustee for 25 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winterset.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

He is survived by his wife, May Jean, of Winterset; a son, Charles A. Clark (wife Susan) of Winterset; a daughter, Sherry Lee Archer (husband Robert) of Walnut, Calif.; two brothers, Robert Clark of Winterset and Eugene Clark of Houston, Texas; a sister, Betty Bower of Sun City, Ariz.; and four grandchildren.
