Van Rossum Rites Monday

Seventy-six year old James G. Van Rossum, a life-long resident of Madison County died Friday, January 28, 1977, at his home in rural Winterset. He was born November 27, 1900, in Madison County, the son of David and Ollie Shutt Van Rossum.

Mr. Van Rossum was raised in the Broadhorn area and married Ollie B. Foreman on April 14, 1929, in Barney. He was a farmer who also worked for 15 years in the Penn Dixie rock quarries, retiring in 1968.

Mr. Van Rossum was affiliated with the Lorimor Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ollie; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Dora Lou) Guion; a brother, David W. Van Rossum of Des Moines; two sisters, Wilma Van Rossum of Des Moines and Beulah Parker of Norwalk and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Funeral services for James Van Rossum were conducted Monday, January 31, at 1:30 p.m. from Collins Funeral Home, Rev. Wayne Ferguson of Des Moines officiating. Burial was made at the Winterset Cemetery.
