Ruth McMillan is Dead

Ruth, the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. McMillan died at one thirty today. She came home from her school work at Rockford, Ill., about two months ago with a severe case of typhoid fever. Every effort to save her life was without success and a promising young life is ended and a happy home desolated. She was one of the most lovable young ladies in this city and her death is a personal sorrow to many.

Besides her parents she leaves one brother, Hugh, who is in business at Cheyenne, Wyom., and who left for Winterset this morning.

The funeral will be held Friday at two o'clock.

Ruth McMillan

The funeral of Miss Ruth McMillan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. McMillan, whose death occurred Wednesday of last week, was held at the home on West Court Avenue Friday afternoon. The services were conducted by Rev. Corkey of the First Presbyterian church, and were unusually sad and impressive. The floral tributes of the hundreds of friends of the family were very many. The death of such a strong and vigorous girl has Ruth McMillan is always sad. She was endowed by nature with a strong constitution, and it seemed that it would successfully carry her through the attack of typhoid, until the last few days when her physicians were compelled to give up hope.

Miss Ruth was twenty years old. She was born in Winterset, and was personally known to nearly every person in it. She went through the junior year in the Winterset high school and entered the Rockford College for young women in 1910. She was a member of the junior class.

An epidemic of typhoid, traced to the city water supply, broke out in Rockford, in February, and over 150 cases of it occurred in the city. In the college Miss McMillan was one of the last attack and was sent home. She seemed to be recovering nicely, but a relapse proved fatal after nearly eight weeks of illness.

She was the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles McMillan. Hugh McMillan, her only brother, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, was present at the funeral. She was a charming and talented girl. That she was sincerely loved was attested by the great assembly of friends who were present at the sorrowing home Friday afternoon.
