Mary Jane Nair, Winterset

Funeral services for Mary Jane Nair, 76, were held Sat. Nov. 23, at Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Zona Lautt officiating. Mrs. Nair died November 20 at Madison County Memorial Hospital.

A lifetime Madison County resident, she was born July 22, 1915 to Earl Sanson and Mable May (Lucas) Welch. She married Warren F. Nair March 22, 1935 in Des Moines. She was a clerk for 24 years at Montross Drug Store and previously had taught rural school. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Farm Bureau Women's Committee.

Mary Jane Nair was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers.

Surviving are her long-time companion and friend, Roger Bean of Winterset; a son, John Warren Nair and wife Karen of Park Forest Ill.; a daughter Nancy Leonard and husband Larry of Umpqua, Ore.; a brother, Roland Welch and wife, Betty of Winterset; two sisters, Betty Cumings and husband Alvin of Prole and Helen Berry and husband, Charles of Lorimor; a sister-in-law, Blanche Welch of Winterset; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Burial was at Winterset Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa or the Cancer Society of Madison County.
