George Hauser, Winterset

George M. Hauser, 89, died of multiple systems failure Nov. 17, 2002, at Winterset Care Center South.

Memorial services were held Tuesday, Nov. 19, at the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset with Pastor Jim Howland officiating. Burial of the cremains was at Winterset with military rites performed by American Legion Post 184 and V.F.W. Post 8142, both of Winterset.

George Hauser was born June 30, 1913, in Marshall County to Elias Willard and Mary Bertha (Boyd) Hauser. He was a graduate of Albion High School. In 1942, he married Martha Brownlie. George was a veteran of the United State Army Air Corps, serving in World War II. Following his discharge from service, he moved to Madison County where he was a farmer and mechanic. In 1970, he moved to Winterset. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset and Albion Masonic Lodge 268 (50 years).

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and a sister.

He is survived by his wife, Martha, of Winterset; two sons, Douglas Hauser, D.V.M., (wife Sherry) of Litchfield Park, Ariz., and Frederick Hauser (wife Lynn) of Winterset; a sister, Lorraine Nelson of Marshalltown; and four grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.
