Roscoe Tyer, Winterset

Services for Roscoe Tyer, 70, Winterset, who died Nov. 13 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital, were held Monday, Nov. 16, at the First United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Bauer officiating. Burial was at the North McDonald Cemetery. Military graveside rites were held by the American Legion post 184.

A retired contractor, Mr. Tyer was born in Madison County on Sept. 2, 1917, the son of Ray and Lillie McDonald Tyer. He was married to Mary F. Hendricks April 1, 1937 at Winterset.

He was a lifetime resident and served in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, the American Legion, the Lakeview Country Club and was a past member of the Rotary Club.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Dick, Gary and Tom, all of Winterset; a daughter, Gayla Coffman of West Des Moines; brother, Earl of Kingsley and Gilbert and Calvin, both of Winterset; sisters, Esther Pilmer of Winterset and Margaret Peterson of Des Moines; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter and a sister.
