Page 2Eber Cameron, who went from this county with his mother and sister to California for his health about six weeks ago, died this last week. He had the consumption, and the disease had got so much under way before the change was made, that there was no chance to recuperate, and so the word came back here that he was dead. His body will be brought back to his old home for interment.

Page 5, Column 3Eber Cameron’s Death
Word was received in the city last week of the death of Eber Cameron at Los Angeles, California. Mayor George Duff, the uncle of the unfortunate young man, had already been summoned to California by a telegram from his sister and was on his way there when the news of the death reached him.
The body was accompanied home by the mother of the young man and his sister, Miss Joanna Cameron. L. C. Houk who, fortunately, was at Los Angeles, took charge of the body and accompanied Mrs. Cameron and daughter to some place in Nevada, where Duff me them and he turned back to California, Mr. Duff bringing the body back to Winterset.
The funeral was held at the United Presbyterian church, of this city, immediately on the arrival of the body on Wednesday morning’s train. Rev. Lindsay preached a very impressive funeral sermon. The funeral was attended by many friends of the young man.
Eber Cameron was a young man of sterling character and more than usual ability. He had been in very poor health for several years. By the advice of his physicians he went to California last fall but the disease had made already too much progress and he soon fell a victim to it. His untimely death is sincerely mourned by a large circle of acquaintances.
