Mrs. Landis, a lady over eighty years of age, died at two o'clock on Saturday morning last, at her home in the south-eastern part of the city. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by S. S. Bird.

Mrs. E. J. Bird and Harvey Dorrell and wife, a niece and grandson of Mrs. Landis, who died in this city a short time ago, came up from Des Moines to attend the funeral, which occurred on Sunday of last week.

Another of earths best and pure of women has gone to rest. Mrs. Orinda Landis died February 16, 1894 at her residence in Winterset. She came to Madison county in 1852, and settled on a farm near Peru, where her husband and she lived until 1873, when they moved to Winterset.

She was born in Holmes county, Ohio, in 1819 and was married in 1836. She was converted in early life, and lived a consistent Christian, and died triumphant in the faith.

She was the mother of four children, Sarah, William B., I. N. and A. J. two of whom, A. J. and W. B. and husband have passed on before. The others, Sarah Dorrell and I. N. Landis, live in Winterset.
