LOUISE AGNEW, Winterset

Mary Louise, daughter of John Albert and Helen Josephine (Wood) Williams, was born April 25, 1905, at Mt. Ayr, Iowa. She died July 1, 1989 at the Bethesda Care Center, Winterset, at the age of 84 years.

Louise was married to S. Brown Agnew on May 10, 1925 at Mt. Ayr. They were parents of two children, James William and Nancy Jo. Brown and Louise lived in Winterset for over 50 years.

Louise was a member of the Federated Women's Club in Winterset and several bridge clubs. She was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church and an honorary member of the Rebekah Circle.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Brown, former Madison County Engineer, who died in October, 1988; her parents; and 3 sisters: Carol Saltzman, Irene Wilson, and Mildred Williams.

Survivors include her two children: Jim Agnew and wife, Marian of Des Moines; and Nancy Clarke and husband, Norm. of Winterset; six grandchildren, Jeanine Ritter of Atlanta, Georgia; Lynn Agnew of Des Moines; Lisa Agnew of Iowa City; Doug Clarke of Des Moines; Maribeth Trevillyan of Chicago, Ill.; and Monica Clarke of Winterset; two sisters, Marian West of Auburn, Indiana; and Iona Kennedy of Muskegon, Michigan; two brothers; John Williams of Waterloo, Indiana and Keith Williams of Auburn, Indiana.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. July 3, 1989 at the First United Methodist church in Winterset, with Pastors Clarence and Zona Lautt officiating. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery. Funeral arrangements were made through the Slade and Duerr Funeral home of Leon, Iowa.
