CORA M. TILTON Died Wednesday

Cora M. Tilton, a Winterset resident since 1914, died at her home here last Wednesday, March 16, 1949, after a brief illness. She was 77 years old and had been in failing health for some time.

Miss Tilton was a native of Warren county, where she was born Jan. 10, 1872, but came to this County with her parents when she was 3 years of age. She was the daughter of Thomas W. and Phoebe E. Tilton.

Her early life was spent in the home of her parents. She taught school for a number of years, and moved into Winterset in 1914. After her mother's death, she and her sister, Carrie, made their home together until the latter's death this winter.

She was a longtime member and active worker in the Winterset Methodist church. She was a member of the Woman's Relief corps, and the Women's Christian Temperance union.

Miss Tilton was the eldest of a family of 10 children, but a sister, Carrie, and a brother, E. J. Tilton preceded her in death. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Lenora Cessna and Mrs. George Murphy of Winterset, and Mrs. O. G. Perkins of Norwalk; and four brothers, B. E. Tilton of Wolf Point, Mont., W. H. Tilton of Lorimor, and H. G. Tilton and T. A. Tilton of Winterset.

Funeral services were held here Sunday from the Methodist church in charge of the pastor, the Rev. G. L. Hufstader. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
