Page 8Mrs. Edith M. Bush Dies at Iowa City
Had Lived Most of Her Life In Madison and Adair Counties
Mrs. Edith M. Bush, formerly of Winterset, died Friday, Nov. 21, at University hospital in Iowa City at the age of 80 years.
Mrs. Bush was born in Madison county March 2, 1878, a daughter of Harvey S. and Sylvania Evans Gatchel. She was married to Leander E. Bush on June 15, 1898. They spent the first seven years of their married life on a farm near Winterset, then moved to Adair county where they farmed near Greenfield for 39 years.
In 1944, they retired and moved to Winterset, where they lived until Mr. Bush's death in 1949. Since then she had made her home with daughters in Corydon and Greenfield.
She was a life-long member of the Christian church.
She leaves five children, Harry Bush of Schwartz Creek, Mich., Mrs. Elsie Martin of Greenfield, Mrs. Lucille Walker of Tempe, Ariz., Mrs. Alice Morris of Durand, Mich., and Mrs. Gladys Stark of Stuart. She also leaves 19 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; a brother, Clarence Gatchel of Shelbyville, Mo.; and three sisters, Mrs. Anise Davis of Rapid City, S. Dak., Mrs. Hester Smith of Mountain View, Mo., and Mrs. Luine Jessup of Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Winterset Christian church, conducted by the Rev. R. A. Owens. Burial was made in Hill of Zion cemetery.
