Mrs. Ada E. Bunker, who lived all of her 92 years in the city of Winterset and was a community leader during her active life, died Sunday, April 11, 1971, at Memorial hospital here.
Mrs. Bunker was born in Winterset Sept. 22, 1878, a daughter of Thomas B. and Sarah Brittain Nicholson. She was married here June 29, 1905, to Dr. John W. Bunker. His death occurred May 13, 1956.
As a young woman Mrs. Bunker taught in the schools of Madison County and Winterset. In 1923 she was elected to the Winterset board of education, and was reelected in 1926, resigning in 1928 after having served as president of the board for two years. She also was a member of the Winterset library board for many years.
She was a member of the Methodist church in Winterset, and of the P.E.O., Eastern Star, Past Matrons, and Current Topic club.
Mrs. Bunker leaves a daughter, Mrs. Harvey C. Davis of Orient; three grandchildren, Jon Harvey Davis of Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Rex Paullin of Winterset, and Richard B. Davis of Orient; and one great grandchild.
Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the First United Methodist church of Winterset, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. Newton Coughenour. Burial was to be made in the Winterset cemetery.
