Funeral services for John R. Darnall of Diagonal, a native of Madison county, were held from the Tidrick Funeral home here, Monday and burial was made in the Roberts cemetery in Webster township.
Mr. Darnall, who was 45 years of age, died Saturday at his home in Diagonal after a week's illness with a heart ailment. Rites were held for him there Sunday, before he was brought to Winterset for final services and burial.
The deceased was born in Madison county on October 19, 1870. He was the son of George and Sarah Darnall. He is survived by his widow Rebecca Darnall; two daughters, Mrs. Frank Davis of Diagonal and Mrs. Opal Poore of Kansas City; and a son, Ernest Darnall of Winterset. He also leaves a step-son, Warren Chambers of Des Moines, and a step-daughter, Mrs. Ollie Tracy of Winterset; in addition to 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Mr. Darnall had joined the Methodist church in early life. Last summer he transferred his membership to the Nazarene church in Diagonal.

J. R. Darnall died at his home in Diagonal, Saturday afternoon at the age of 65 years. Mr. Darnall was a former resident of Winterset, moving to Diagonal the 1919.
He leaves besides his wife, two sons Ernest of Winterset, and Sylvester of Diagonal, one daughter Mrs. Opal Poor of Kansas City, Missouri; one stepdaughter Mrs. O. E. Tracy of Winterset, and one stepson Vernon Wright of Montana.
Funeral services were held at Tidrick’s funeral home Monday conducted by the Minister of the Methodist church of Diagonal. Burial was in the Roberts funeral (sic).
