Had Been Resident of This County for 56 Years
George Cram, one of Madison county's most respected citizens for many years, died at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines Monday, Feb. 13. He was 86 years of age, and had been in failing health for several years.
Mr. Cram was a native of Maine, where he was born Sept. 26, 1863, a son of Ambrose and Maria Cram. He came to Iowa as a young man and had lived in Madison county for 56 years.
Mr. Cram lived in Winterset for many years, being employed here as janitor at the old Citizens National bank. For the last 12 years he had made his home with a daughter, Mrs. Marie Eagan of St. Charles.
He was married to Mary Hockenberry, who died in 1913. In addition to the daughter at St. Charles, he leaves another daughter, Mrs. Orella Hess of Murray; a son, Ambrose Cram of Dexter; and a step-daughter, Mrs. Deedie Oakland of Great Falls, Mont.
Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2 p. m. from the Richards Funeral home in Winterset, in charge of the Rev. Glenn Parrott, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial will be made in the Roberts cemetery at Webster.
