Ells Schirm, Winterset

Raymond Ellsworth Schirm, 83, died of a respiratory ailment Feb. 19, 2001, at Winterset Care Center North.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset with the Rev. Bob Epperson officiating. Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday Feb. 22, with the family present from 6-8 p.m. Burial will be at Winterset Cemetery.

Ells Schirm was born Jan. 10, 1918, to Alfred Fred and Blanche Gertrude (Tannatt) Schirm of Winterset. A lifetime resident of Winterset, he married Mildred Louise Butler on Dec. 5, 1943 in Princeton, Mo. A retired mechanic, Ells worked for John Deere Implement for 12 years and Penn-Dixie Quarry for 23 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of Winterset; a son, Raymond Lynn Schirm of Winterset; two daughters, Linda Wise (husband Richard) and Deborah McKeever (husband Robert) both of Winterset; two brothers, Lloyd Schirm (wife Doris) of Winterset and Robert Schirm (wife Evelyn) of Des Moines; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Middle River Hospice.
