Graveside services for Ralph Shambaugh, 78, were held Wed., Aug. 28 at Union Chapel Cemetery, Madison County with the Rev. David Bauer officiating. Mr. Shambaugh died August 26 at Winterset Care Center North where he was a resident.

A Madison County resident for most of his life, he was born August 9, 1913 to William Edwin and Carrie Mae (Newlon) Shambaugh. He was a retired tire dealer, an Army veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post 184 of Winterset and First United Methodist Church.

Ralph Adam Shambaugh was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.

Surviving are two sons, Jim of Pennsylvania and Mike of Florida; three brothers, Phil of Los Angeles, Calif.; Hubert of New Jersey and Robert of Ohio; a sister, Mary Collins of Los Angeles, Calif.; and several grandchildren.

Military graveside services were also held at the cemetery by American Legion Post 184. Memorial contributions may be made to the post.
