EDITH E. MEASE, St. Charles

Edith E. Mease, 81, of St. Charles died May 5, 2000 of cardiac arrest at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 27, at St. Charles Parish Church. Burial of the cremains will be at Ebenezer Cemetery in Walnut Township (rural Peru).

Edith Mease was born Jan. 24, 1919, in Warren County to Ralph and Veda (Garrison) Johnson. She was a resident of the Truro area for most of her life where she and her husband Ival owned a Holstein dairy farm. For the past 12 years she had resided in St. Charles. Edith and her husband also were the 1998 Madison County Covered Bridge king and queen. She was a member of the St. Charles Parish Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Sharon Burns of Norwalk and Janet Downs of St. Charles; a son, Martin Mease of Kansas City, Mo.; three brothers, Doyle Johnson of Truro, Ken Johnson of Des Moines and Herb Johnson of St. Mary, Mo.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by the Cremation Society of Iowa, Ankeny.

EDITH E. MEASE

Edith E. Mease, daughter of Ralph and Veda Garrison Johnson, was born Jan. 24, 1919, in Warren County and died May 5, 2000, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. She was 81.

She lived in the Truro area most of her life.

She and her husband, Ival Mease, owned a Holstein dairy farm.

They moved to St. Charles 12 years ago.

Mr. and Mrs. Mease were King and Queen of the 1998 Covered Bridge Festival of Madison County.

She was a member of the St. Charles Parish.

Mrs. Mease is survived by her husband, Ival Mease of St. Charles; two daughter, Sharon Burns of Norwalk and Janet Downs of St. Charles; a son, Martin Mease of Kansas City, Mo.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Doyle Johnson of Truro, Ken Johnson of Des Moines and Herb Johnson of St. Marys, Mo.; other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. May 27 at the St. Charles Parish. No visitation is planned. A lunch will follow the service. Interment of the cremains will be in Ebenezer Cemetery in Walnut Township.

Memorials may be made to the St. Charles Parish Church or the St. Charles Library.
