Michael Edward Lenaghan

Michael Edward Lenaghan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Lenaghan, was born February 24, 1957 at Webster, Iowa. He lost his life in an accident on January 2, 1974 near Earlham at the age of 16.

Mike, as he was known to his friends, attended Sigourney grade school and St. Mary's parochial school at Sigourney before moving to Earlham with his family in 1971. He was a junior in the Earlham high school this year. Mike has been active in FFA, Honor Club, football, E. Club and was treasurer of the junior class.

He is survived by his parents, four sisters (Cathy, Mary, Karen and Janine) and three brothers (Joe, Tom and Matt); his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Lepsius, and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Edward Joseph, and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward P. Lenaghan.

Funeral Mass was held at St. John's Catholic church in Adel on January 5. The Rev. John Clarke and The Rev. Francis Lollick were in charge of the service. Earlham schoolmates serving as pallbearers at Adel were Phil Algreen, Jeff Anker, Ben Beaman, John Clausen, Rodger Routh and Andy Schafer. Pallbearers at the Sigourney cemetery were Jim Conner, Van Davis, Bill O'Rourke, Dan O'Rourke, Dave Richardson and Tom Sieren. Interment was in Pleasant Grove cemetery.
