1955MRS. DAVID ALGOE RITES HELD FRIDAY
Mrs. David Algoe, whose death at the Memorial hospital in Winterset, Aug. 17, was reported in the Madisonian last week, was a native of Illinois, who had lived in Madison County for 54 years.
She was the former Emma Elizabeth Haines, daughter of John and Mary Andrew Haines. She was born Aug. 31, 1885, near Fisher in Champaign county, Illinois. In 1889 she moved with her parents to Hardin county, Iowa, living there until 1901, when they came to Madison county.
On Feb. 10, 1907, she was married to David W. Algoe. They were the parents of six children, all of whom survive their mother. Mr. Algoe preceded his wife in death.
She was a member of the Zion Federated church and the Scott Township Community Circle.
Surviving are her six children: Mrs. Goldie Lightner and Mrs. Pearl Tyer of Winterset, Mrs. Ruby Gray of Iowa City, and Raymond and John Algoe and Elsie Satterlee of Peru. She also leaves 16 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three brothers, Ora R. Haines of Winterset, Ollie H. Haines of Peru, and Marion L. Haines of Clarkston, Wash.; and two sisters, Mrs. Clyde W. Wilson of Grangeville, Ida. and Mrs. Harry F. Anderson of Winterset.
Funeral services were held last Friday from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Earl Travis of Winterset. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
