CHARLES A. MARTIN, Winterset

Services for Charles A. Martin, 81, Winterset, who died Jan. 31, 1986, at the Bethesda Care Center where he resided, will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9 at the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset.

Memorials may be given to the Presbyterian Church but no flowers. Collins Funeral Home is in charge of services. The remains have been deeded to the University of Iowa medical school.

Born in Patterson on Oct. 11, 1904, he was the son of James and Josephine McCleary Martin. A retired farmer, he spent his lifetime in Madison County with the exception of 10 years in Kentucky.

On Sept. 1, 1928, he married Margaret Aikins at Davenport. He was an elder in the Presbyterian church, a charter member of the Lakeview County Club and served as Madison County zoning administrator.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael Grant Martin of Ankeny, a daughter, Meredith Burns of Davis, Calif.; a brother, Robert Martin of Des Moines; sisters, Mae Linn of Des Moines and Anna Brown of Winterset; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son.
