Funeral services for Cleo J. Shelley of Winterset were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, August 27, at Collins Funeral Home. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery with Rev. David Livingston officiating. Mr. Shelley died Thursday, August 23, at Madison County Memorial Hospital.
Born on September 7, 1905 in Gentry County, Missouri, he was the son of James and May Hecker Shelley. He moved to Iowa from Missouri 60 years ago and was 1925 graduate of Earlham High School.
On October 23, 1929 at Nevada, Ia., he was married to Vada Irene Jackson, who survives him. Mr. Shelley was a farmer and hauling contractor until his retirement in 1972. They moved to Winterset from the farm in 1955.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mary Leola Aikin of Loveland, Colo., and Helen Louise Davis of San Gabriel, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents.
