Wednesday, September 1978Herb Kitchell Dies At Age 95
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 23 at 1:30 p.m. from Collins Funeral Home for Herbert L. Kitchell, 95, who died Wednesday, September 20, 1978 at Winterset Care Center South where he was a resident.
Mr. Kitchell was born July 24, 1883, in Madison County, the son of Charles W. and Mary E. Morris Kitchell. He retired from farming in 1955.
The marriage of Herb Kitchell to Mary E. McDonald took place April 26, 1905 in Winterset. She died in May of 1970. Mr. Kitchell was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, drove the first oil truck in this area and worked several years for the M. Young Company.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, an infant son and infant daughter, also four brothers and a sister.
Officiating at Saturday's service was Rev. Byron Ayers. Burial was made at the McDonald-Chase Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites observed.
