Long-Time Resident Died in Idaho Thursday at Age Of 95 Years
Funeral services were held here Tuesday from the Anderson home for funerals for John A. Seiler, whose death occurred Thursday, June 9, at Caldwell, Ida. The Rev. David Kiser, pastor of the New Hope church at Ord, conducted the service. Burial was made in the Clarke cemetery.
Mr. Seiler was 95 years of age at his death. He was born Nov. 23, 1864, in Muscatine, a son of John T. and Nancy Seiler. In the early 1890's he came to Madison county. He was married here on Oct. 4, 1894, to Nellie Callison.
Mr. Seiler farmed in Madison county until 1926, when he moved to Des Moines. Two years later he returned to this community and for the next 28 years made his home in Winterset. For the last two years he had been living with his son, Clifford Seiler, in Caldwell, Ida.
During his early life in Muscatine, he was a member of the Presbyterian church. After coming to Madison county, he was active in the New Hope church at Ord.
He was preceded in death by his wife; and by a daughter Ruth. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Mary Grout and Mrs. Myrtle Cline of Winterset; two sons, Emery Seiler of Boise Ida., and Clifford Seiler of Caldwell, Ida.; 14 grandchildren; and 29 great grandchildren.
