Services Held For Kale Lucas

Funeral services were conducted Monday, Nov. 7 at 10:30 a.m. from the First United Methodist Church for Kale R. Lucas who died Friday, Nov. 4, 1977, at his home on Route 4, Winterset.

Mr. Lucas was 63 years of age, the son of Clarence George and Wilda Jewel Kale Lucas. He was born October 13, 1914, in Madison County. He lived here throughout his life.

A construction worker, Lucas was one of the workmen on the first crews building the Alcan Highway in Alaska. He was a heavy equipment operator. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of V.F.W. Post 8142 of Winterset.

The marriage of Kale Lucas and Lelah R. Sanders took place November 16, 1938, in Bethany, Mo. Mrs. Lucas survives her husband.

Also surviving are three daughters, Dixie McDonald of Winterset; Shirley Daggett of Denver, Colo., and Donna Boor of Murray, Iowa. Two brothers survive. They are Clarence George Lucas of Winterset and John Lucas of Bishop, Calif. He is also survived by his mother, Wilda Lucas of Winterset. Also eleven grandchildren.

Mr. Lucas was preceded in death by his father.

Officiating at Monday's services was Rev. Byron Ayers. Burial was made at the Winterset cemetery.
