Dorothy M. Morrissey, Winterset

Dorothy Maxine Morrissey, 79, a resident of Winterset Care Center South, died of a heart ailment Dec. 5, 1999 at Madison County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held today (Wednesday, Dec. 8) at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset with Father Ed Pfeffer officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.

Dorothy Morrissey was born March 6, 1920, in Madison County to Elmer E. and Bessie (Kleatch) Libby. She married James E. Morrissey on Aug. 6, 1941, in Winterset.

A lifetime resident of Winterset, Dorothy taught in Madison County rural schools for 34 years and the Winterset Community School District for six years. She was a member of the Mercy Hospital Foundation, National Teachers Association, the Nature and Environmental Association of Iowa, the Winterset Alumni Association and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother and a sister.

She is survived by a son, Brian Morrissey (wife Linda) of Otley; a daughter, Sue Miles of Winterset; and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Winterset Alumni Association.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
