James E. Morrissey, Winterset

Services for James E. Morrissey, 71, Winterset who died July 4 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital, were to be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Sat., July 7, with the Rev. Frank Palmer officiating Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born in Madison County on December 13, 1918, he was the son of Patrick and Katherine Bruns Morrissey. He was married to Dorothy Libby on August 6, 1941 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset.

He was a lifelong resident of Madison County and a worker with the Madison County Secondary Roads Department for 33 years, retiring in 1984.

Mr. Morrissey was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, VFW Post 8142, the Disabled American Veterans and was a past member of Legion Post 184. He was a World War (II) Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy; a son, Brian of Winterset; a daughter, Sue Miles of Winterset; brothers, Henry and Bernard both of Winterset; sisters, Marguerite Herrick of Indianola, Dorothy Hochstetler of Dexter, Ruth Klemm of Sun City, Ariz., and Cecelia Bridenstine of Winterset; and three grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
