DEATH OF B. F. MCBRIDE

Funeral services for Benjamin Franklin McBride were held at the Worthington church, Tuesday afternoon, April 10th, 1934, at 1:30 o'clock and burial was in the Worthington cemetery.

Death came to Mr. McBride, Sunday morning, April 8th, after an extended illness of more than a year. Mr. McBride who was 76 years of age, was the eldest son of Charles W. and Sarah McBride and was born in Bloomfield, April 24, 1857. He came to this county with his parents in 1862 and they located in Winterset. He attended the Winterset schools, but later the family moved to De Soto and he was graduated from the De Soto high school. Following this he worked on farms in the Worthington and Fairview neighborhoods.

His marriage to Miss Julia Ann Bowlsby took place, January 19th, 1887, and five years later they built the house a half mile east of Worthington that has since been their home. He was a member of the Fairview and Worthington Methodist churches and for a number of years taught a Sunday school class at Fairview.

He leaves his wife and four children: Charles McBride of Earlham, Jesse and Isaac McBride of Holtville, California and Mrs. Elsie Keast, of Ottumwa. He also leaves ten grandchildren, one sister, Lulu Stout, of Iowa City and one brother, Lincoln McBride of Kansas City, Missouri. A daughter of Mr. and Mrs. McBride, Nettie Blanche died January 14, 1932.

Funeral services were held at Worthington Tuesday at 1:30 conducted by Rev. A. R. Weed.

Frank as he was commonly called was reared in the Fairview neighborhood and attended school in De Soto and Winterset. He was united in marriage to Miss Anna Bowlsby in 1887. They made their home with Mrs. McBride’s mother, Mrs. M. Bowlsby a few years after which they built a home on the farm Mrs. McBride inherited at her father’s death in 1888. This was his home for over 40 years.

He leaves his wife, three sons and one daughter, W. W. McBride at home, Jesse McBride and Isaac McBride, of El Centro, Calif., and Mrs. A. P. Keast of Ottumwa, Miss Blanch McBride passed away in 1932.

Those from Winterset attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Ab Duff, Thornton Duff, Luther Hudson, Miss Joanna Cameron, Mrs. Bessie Rhoads, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hamilton, Mrs. Mary Clague, Judge Cooper and Mrs. Eva Cooper and Lee Tidrick.
