Funeral services for Joseph C. McDonald were held Monday afternoon, July 26, 1971, from the Collins Funeral home here.
Mr. McDonald the last survivor of a family of 10 children, died July 22 at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. He was 91 years of age.
A son of Cyrus and Mary McDonald, he was born in Madison County on July 26, 1879. He was married to Mahala Eggleston, at Winterset on Feb. 27, 1907.
Mr. McDonald left Madison county in 1909, making his home in Dinasour, Colo. He worked in a defense plant, and was a school custodian.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints.
Surviving are his wife; five children, Mrs. John Richens of Vernal, Utah, Louis McDonald of Winterset, Mrs. Bud Spick of St. Charles, Mrs. Howard Speer of Branson, Missouri, and Mrs. Dean Silverthorn of Willow Springs, Mo.; 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, six sisters and three brothers.
Officiating at the funeral Monday was the Rev. Charles Updike. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
