Funeral services for Albert William Burger, well-known Jefferson township farmer, were held Wednesday afternoon, May 29, 1963, from the United Brethren church in Van Meter.
Mr. Burger died suddenly Sunday morning of a heart attack at his farm home six miles south of Van Meter. He was 70 years of age.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. William Burger, he was born on the home farm in section 22 of Jefferson township on Dec. 30, 1892. He spent his entire life on this farm, where he was actively associated with soil conservation and crop improvement projects.
He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Jefferson U. B. Church.
He is survived by his wife, the former Opal Akin; three daughters, Mrs. Glen Anderson of Indianola, Mrs. Burk Tassell of Beloit, Wisconsin, and Mrs. Bill Beeler of Van Meter; one brother, Roy Burger of Winterset, one sister, Mrs. Walter Liebtke of Moline, Illinois; and eight grandchildren.
Officiating at the service Wednesday afternoon was the Rev. Clifford Carter, pastor of the Van Meter U. B. church. Burial was in the Winterset Cemetery.
