Wednesday, January 19, 1955RALPH MCLEES of Winterset Dies
Ralph McLees, well known farmer of this community, died at his home near Winterset Wednesday noon, Jan. 12, 1955, after a long illness. He was 73 years of age.
Mr. McLees, was born May 4, 1881, on the farm near Winterset where he spent his entire life. He was a son of John and Martha Jane Dill McLees.
He was educated in the local schools and the Capital City Commercial college in Des Moines. He was married Oct. 15, 1913, to Mabyl M. McKenzie of this community.
He held numerous offices in his community, serving as president of the board of the Hooten school in Lincoln township, on the board of township trustees, as president of the Madison County 4-H club fair, and as trustee of the United Presbyterian church in Winterset, in which he was active over a long period of years.
Surviving are his wife; three children, Mrs. Raymond Comp of Gladbrook, John K. McLees of Winterset, and William A. McLees of Iowa City; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday from the United Presbyterian church in Winterset, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. S. C. Pickens. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
