DAISY BRIGGS of Winterset Dies

Mrs. Daisy C. Briggs, member of a prominent, pioneer Madison County family, died at her home near Winterset Thursday, April 19, 1962. Her death came suddenly, as result of a heart attack. She was 82 years of age.

Mrs. Briggs was the former Daisy C. Robbins, daughter of James M. and Thankful Alma Robbins. She was born here Oct. 28, 1879, and lived practically all her life in Madison County.

She was married at Elgin, Nebraska, in 1901, to Lee M. Briggs. They were parents of four sons, one of whom, Raymond, died in infancy. Her husband also preceded her in death.

She was a member of the First Baptist church in Winterset. She was affiliated with the Daughters of Union Veterans, and the Lincoln township community club and numerous other organizations.

Surviving are her three sons, Gerald Briggs of Durham, Calif., Alfred Briggs of Vallejo, Calif., and James Hubert Briggs of Winterset; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Grace Wight of Mountain Home, Ark., and Mrs. Alma White of Davenport.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Wilson Funeral home in Winterset, in charge of the Rev. Robert Owens, pastor of the First Christian church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
