April 16, 1980SERVICES SATURDAY FOR DR. ILGENFRITZ
Dr. Hugh F. IlgenFritz of Des Moines, formerly of Winterset, died Thursday, April 10, 1980, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 82. Dr. IlgenFritz had practiced dentistry in Winterset for 52 years before moving to Des Moines five years ago.
Born on May 2, 1897, in Denison, he was the son of Rev. Elmer and Elizabeth Secrist IlgenFritz. A graduate of the University of Iowa School of Dentistry, he was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Crane on June 23, 1920, in Dexter. His wife preceded him in death on Sept. 29,1979.
Dr. IlgenFritz was an army veteran of World War I and a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset, Psi Omega dental fraternity, University of Iowa Alumni Association, High 12, Evening Star Masonic Lodge No. 44 of Winterset, American Legion and a lifetime member of the Iowa Dental Association.
Among the survivors are two children, Richard C. IlgenFritz of Des Moines and Nancy J. Swisher of Iowa City; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul IlgenFritz of Santa Monica, Calif.; and a sister, Elizabeth McElwain of Kenosha, Wis. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a brother and four sisters.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset with Rev. Alan Parker officiating. Military graveside services were held at Winterset Cemetery.
