Mary Ilgenfritz Services Tuesday

Mary Ellen Crane IlgenFritz of Scottish Rite Park in Des Moines, formerly of Winterset, died Saturday, September 29, 1979, at the Iowa Jewish Home in Des Moines at the age of 81.

Mrs. IlgenFritz was postmaster of the U.S. Post Office in Winterset for 35 years, from 1933 until 1968.

Born on November 13, 1897 at Dexter, she was the daughter of George A. and Mabel Dean Crane. She was married to Dr. Hugh F. IlgenFritz on June 23, 1920 in Dexter.

Mrs. IlgenFritz lived in Winterset until moving to Des Moines four years ago. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, L. O. Club, Pi Beta Phi, Postmaster's National Organization, Eastern Star, Pythian Sisters and was a charter member of the Madison County Antique Association.

Surviving are her husband Hugh; two children, Richard C. IlgenFritz of Des Moines and Nancy J. Swisher of Iowa City; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, George R. Crane.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 2, at First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset with Rev. Alan Parker officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.
