DEATH OF D. A. BROCK

D. A. Brock, former steward of the Madison County farm, died Monday morning, April 9th, 1934, at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines, after a six weeks' illness, with sleeping sickness and complications. Mr. Brock became ill sometime ago, and about the middle of March was taken to the hospital in Des Moines for treatment. His case ws diagnosed as sleeping sickness, but complications developed causing his death. He was 53 years of age.

The deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Brock, and was born in this county. Thirty years ago, he was married to Miss Blanche Hart of Winterset and for several years the family lived in Redfield. They returned to Madison County and made their home in Webster township, until he was chosen as steward of the county farm. He served in this position for four years. For the past year the Brocks have been residing with Mr. and Mrs. John Krell.

The Rev. Ward B. Tarr, pastor of the Oak Grove Evangelical church conducted his funeral services which were held at the Methodist church in Winterset, Wednesday afternoon, April 11th, at 2:30 o'clock, and burial was in the local cemetery.

Mr. Brock is survived by his aged father, his wife, their one daughter, Velma, and by two sisters and a brother; Homer Brock of Briggsdale, Colorado, Mrs. Ada Binns of Greeley, Colorado and Mrs. Eva Stump of Winterset.
