DEATH OF MRS. CAROLINE HART

Mrs. Caroline Hart, a resident of Madison County for the past 80 years, died May 29, 1935, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Krell, in Winterset. She was 89 years old.

Mrs. Hart was born as Caroline Welty in Ohio on April 19, 1846. At the age of 9 years, she came to Iowa in a covered wagon with her parents, Peter and Mary Schnellbacher Welty. The family settled in Webster township, and that community was her home for the greater part of her life.

In 1865 she married Andrew M. Hart, a veteran of the Civil War. They were the parents of seven children, one of who preceded the mother in death. Mr. Hart died in 1910. The surviving children are Clarence Hart of Hyrum, Utah, Mrs. Bertha Krell, Mrs. Cora Krell, Mrs. Mata Wight, and Mrs. Blanche Brock of Winterset, and Mrs. Sadie Ragan of Morgan, Minnesota.

Mrs. Hart became affiliated with the church in her youth. She was a member of the Oak Grove Evangelical church most of her life. For the past 23 years she lived with her daughter, Mrs. Krell in Winterset.

In addition to her children, she leaves 23 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Tidrick's Funeral home. Burial was made at the Pleasant View Cemetery.
