Herbert Wayne Patience, 74, died on December 10, 1992, at Winterset Care Center North from pneumonia and complications of Alzheimer's Disease. Funeral services were held December 14 at Zion Lutheran Church in Dexter with the Rev. Linden Wendzel officiating. Burial was at Dexter Cemetery.
Mr. Patience was born October 22, 1918, to Andrew and Talitha (Butler) Patience in rural Page County. He married Mary Walter on October 31, 1943, in Northboro. They farmed near Coin until 1948 when they moved to rural Earlham. In 1979 they moved to a farm northwest of Winterset. He was active as a 4-H member and leader, county Farm Bureau member, served as president of the Earlham School Board, Voc-Ag/FFA Advisory Board member, and received the "Honorary Farmer" degree. Mr. Patience also was active with the Earlham Saddle Club passing his interest in horses and Angus cattle to the children. He was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Dexter.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.
Surviving relatives include his wife; three children, Gary and wife, Monica, of Earlham, Beverly White and husband, Dan, of Winterset, Joyce James and husband Douglas, of Prescott; three brothers, Delbert of Mandan, N.D., Glen and Marion, both of Earlham; and eight grandchildren.
