MRS. ALF DANFORTH OF WINTERSET DIES

Mrs. Alf D. Danforth (Mabelle) of Winterset, died suddenly Tuesday afternoon, May 5th at her home on West Washington street. Mrs. Danforth had been in failing health for several years, but had not been seriously ill; a heart attack caused her death, about 1:30 p.m. She was 79 years of age.

She was the widow of the late Alf. D. Danforth, pioneer Winterset businessman whose death occurred here, October 27, 1963. She was also a member of a well known family, being the former Mabelle Benson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Noah Benson of Winterset. She and Mr. Danforth were married December 25, 1908, and most of her life was spent in this community.

She was a member of the Presbyterian church here, and was active in church and various clubs, as long as her health permitted.

Nearest surviving relative is a daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Singer of Pompton Plains, New Jersey. She is also survived by a grandson, Steven Singer of Pompton Plains, and a sister, Mrs. Harold Griffiths of Syracuse, New York. Mr. and Mrs. M. S. Singer arrived here by plane, this (Wednesday) afternoon.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Wilson Funeral home, with the Rev. John E. Fink, pastor of the First United Presbyterian church of Winterset, officiating. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
