1968ARTHUR NEWBURY DIES AT 49 YEARS
Arthur F. Newbury of Taylor, Nebr., formerly of Winterset died Friday, Sept. 3, at his place of business in Taylor. He was 48 years of age.
Mr. Newbury was born March 28, 1920, in Greenfield, a son of Dana and Blanch Newbury. As a boy he came to Winterset, where he worked for an uncle until he entered U. S. military service during World War II. He served in the U. S. army from August 1942 until September 1945. He served overseas, and was in the invasion of Normandy.
After the war, he lived in Winterset several years, then moved to Denver, Colo. He moved to Taylor after five years in Denver.
Mr. Newbury was married in Washington, D. C., on Dec. 2, 1942, to Naomi Ruth Pilmer of Winterset.
In Nebraska, Mr. Newbury was employed as a school bus driver. He was a charter member of the Taylor Lions club, and was serving as president this year. He was also a member of the Taylor volunteer fire department.
Surviving are his wife; three children, Gale Newbury of Ft. Worth, Tex., Harrell Newbury of Grand Island, Nebr., and Mrs. Kay Kassebaum of Lincoln, Nebr.; three grandsons; two brothers, Errol Newbury of Aurora, Colo., and Orville Newbury of Burwell, Nebr.; and two sisters, Mrs. Norma Dearburg of Grand Island, Nebr.; and Mrs. Arlene Strol of Omaha.
Funeral services were held Sept. 17 from the E. U. B. church in Taylor. Burial was made last Wednesday in the Winterset cemetery, with grave-side services in charge of the Rev. John Fink, pastor of the First United Presbyterian church of Winterset, and with military honors by the Winterset post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
