Irma Florence Harpole, Winterset

Irma Florence Harpole, 96, died from a heart ailment Sunday, April 12, 1998, at Integrated Health Services in Winterset.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 17, from noon to 8 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at the Patterson United Methodist Church with Pastors Jon Gaul and Don Frank officiating. Burial will be at Montpelier Cemetery in Patterson. Family and friends are invited to a lunch prior to the 1:30 p.m. funeral service. Lunch is at 11:30 a.m.

Irma Harpole was born Feb. 17, 1902, at Eagle Grove, Iowa to J. Irvin and Jennie M. (Stevens) Wildin. She married James Alfred Harpole in Atlantic in 1921. She was a homemaker, farmer and teacher. She was a lifetime resident of Madison County. Irma was a member of Farm Bureau, 4-H, TOPS, Madison County Historical Society, Pythian Sisters, Madison County Extension Council, United Methodist Women and Patterson United Methodist Church. She also was a Sunday school teacher.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and one sister.

She is survived by six sons, Murray (wife Ruth) of St. Paul, Minn., Francis (wife Maxine) of Patterson, Merritt (wife Teddie) of Mabank, Texas, Marshall (wife Georgia) of Winterset; Stephen of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Brian of Longmont, Colo.; four daughters, Doris Lahner of Hopkins, Minn., Maxine Hull (husband Spencer) of Gibson, Iowa, JoAnn Allen (husband Charles Wayne) of St. Charles, and Marilyn Osborn (husband Gary) of West Des Moines; three brothers, Ed Wildin and Darrel Wildin, both of Winterset, and Clarence Wildin of St. Charles; three sisters, Gertrude Hudson and Phyllis Pace, both of Winterset, and Zelda Buck of Glendale, Calif.; 26 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to the Patterson United Methodist Church.
