JUDGE VINCENT DIED LAST FRIDAY

District Court Jurist Had Been Conducting Term in Winterset

Judge Earl W. Vincent of Guthrie Center, a judge of the fifth judicial district of which Madison county is a part, died at his home in Guthrie Center Friday night, May 22. Death was caused by a coronary occlusion.

Judge Vincent was 67 years of age. He had not been in good health for some time, but had been conducting the May term of district court in Winterset. He had presided over a session of the court in Winterset here last Friday, and complained of being ill that evening after returning to his home in Guthrie Center.

Judge Vincent was born in Keota. He was admitted to the Iowa bar in 1912, and had practiced law in Guthrie Center since that time. He served in the Iowa house of representatives from 1923 to 1926, and served one term in the U. S. Congress, in 1928 and 1929. He had been a judge of the district court since 1945.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. R. Y. Taylor of Guthrie Center; a brother, Elmer Vincent of Keota; and three sisters, Mrs. Mae Sturgeon of Keota, Mrs. Charles Weimer of California and Grace Vincent of Keota.

Funeral services were held Monday from the First Presbyterian church at Guthrie Center. Offices in the Madison county Court house in Winterset were closed Monday afternoon for the services.
