Services for Myrtle R. Sankey, 94, a lifetime Winterset resident who died Jan. 13 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, were held Monday, Jan. 17 at the First Baptist Church here with the Rev. Kenneth Helmers officiating. Burial was in the Winterset Cemetery.
Born in Audubon, Iowa Jan. 30, 1888, she was the daughter of Fleming Wesley and Harriet Newman Worley. She married Alvin Newton Sankey Dec. 1, 1908 in Winterset and she spent most of her life as a homemaker and practical nurse in Madison County for many years.
Survivors include a son, Lloyd of Winterset; daughters, Mildred E. Daniels, of Racine Wis., Harriet McDonald and Dorothy Rambow, both of Winterset, and Alice Phillips of Truro; a brother, Roy Worley of Winterset; a sister-in-law, Essie Worley; 18 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
