A. N. SANKEY OF WINTERSET DIES

Was Resident of Madison County Three Quarters of Century

Newton Sankey, a resident of Madison county for three quarters of a century, died Monday, March 27, at his home in Winterset. His death ended an extended illness. He was 76 years of age.

Alvin Newton Sankey was born June 23, 1884, in Franklin county, Kansas, a son of John C. and Alice Summerville Sankey.

During his active years in this community he worked as a farmer and teamster.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Myrtle. R. Sankey, to whom he was married here on Dec. 1, 1908. He also leaves five children, Mrs. Mildred Daniels of Racine, Wisc., Lloyd L. Sankey, Mrs. Harriet McDonald and Mrs. Dorothy Sankey, all of Winterset, and Mrs. Alice Phillips of Truro; 18 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a brother, Carroll Sankey of Natrona, Wyo.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2 p.m. from the First Baptist church in Winterset, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. Robert A. Damon. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
