MRS. C. C. BEK OF WINTERSET DIES

Funeral Rites Scheduled for Thursday at Grace Baptist Church

Mrs. Christian C. Bek, a resident of Madison county nearly half a century, died Tuesday, April 23, at her home in Winterset. She was 78 years of age.

Mrs. Bek was a native of Massena, where she was born Oct. 22, 1884. She was the former Pearl Elizabeth Erickson, daughter of Joseph and Sadie Shields Erickson.

She was married at Atlantic on July 22, 1903, to Christian C. Bek. They came to Madison county 48 years ago.

She was a member of the Grace Baptist church of Winterset.

She is survived by her husband; six children, Mrs. Dorothea Ferguson of Grand Junction, Colo., Mrs. Marguerite Wight and Mrs. Maxine Bruett of Winterset, and Carl, Gerald and Joe Bek, all of Winterset. She also leaves 22 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Sylvia Portwood of Gillette, Wyo., and Mrs. Blanche Denham and Mrs. Cora McLaren of Massena.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday from the Grace Baptist church of Winterset, in charge of the Rev. Richard Mohr, former local pastor, now of Des Moines. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
