Freda Benjamin, Winterset

Freda Fern Benjamin, 86, of Winterset died from complications of pneumonia May 29, 2000, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 1 at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with the Rev. Robert Barrick officiating. Burial will be at Stringtown Cemetery, Douglas Township, Madison County. Visitation will be held today (Wednesday, May 31) from 2-8 p.m. at Ochiltree Funeral Service and Aftercare in Winterset with the family present from 6-8 p.m.

Freda Benjamin was born Nov. 13, 1913 to Fred and Hazel (Shively) Waldron of Gallatin, Mo. She married Joseph Benjamin on Nov. 12, 1932 (his obit states 1933). A homemaker, Freda was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winterset, U.M.W., Child Welfare Club, Clover Club, Rock Hound Society and Madison County Antique Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son and a brother.

She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Hann (husband Bruce) of Urbandale and Diane Zeis (husband Robert) of Des Moines; two sons, Eric Benjamin (wife Sondra) of Auburn, Nebr., and Charles Benjamin of Omaha, Nebr.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the First United Methodist Church in Winterset.
