Was Descendant of Pioneer Family in Madison County
Elbridge V. Guye, descendant of one of the trail-blazing pioneer families in Madison county, died Friday, Jan. 19, at a Des Moines Hospital. He was 67 years of age.
Mr. Guye was a descendant of the original Guye family, which was one of the two first pioneer families to settle in Madison county in the spring of 1846.
He was born and lived all his life on the farm in Union township which had been in the Guye family since 1846.
Mr. Guye was born Oct. 14, 1900, a son of Albert and Maria Lucas Guye. He was married on Feb. 15, 1932, at Maryville, Mo. to Dorothy Bennett, who survives him.
He was the last surviving member of a family of three children, his two sisters, Mrs. Vivian Watson and Mrs. Beatrice Thompson, having preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. John E. Fink, pastor of the First United Presbyterian church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
